Can't think of any better title that is PG rated. I'm so happy I wasn't on the highway today west of town with this trucker that was doing full highway speed on the WRONG side of the freeway. Eventually it ended in a bad crash, see video below.

Why I am not happy...

One of the sites I run is down. The people that it is for are not happy. I'm not either. This is the second time in 2 weeks it's done this. Big problem is the site is database driven so when their stupid server does this, the site is dead. I can't even log in because that's stored in the MySQL too. None of the other providers I have this software running on have ever had this kind of problem and iPower didn't until recently.

The iPower tech support agent I talked with pretty much ignored everything I said including the 20 times I referenced MySQL... I work in tech support myself but not with servers. I've got a pretty good idea what needs to be done and the last time it happened the agent had it fixed in 5 minutes. I'm on 50 minutes so far and still stuck at Go... agent missing the "no databases" and the error with it no matter how many times I bring it up in the conversation... It ends with it might be working in a few hours after being down all day.

Oct. 21st, 2007 @ 11:30 pm Facebook spam...
Current Mood: frustrated
I still don't know why everyone is so obsessed with Facebook. I've used it. Nothing special, nothing fascinating. Just a lot of clutter. My biggest frustration with Facebook is all of those little applications they added resulting in a lot of, what I'd consider, spam. It's worse than email because there is no filter I can find on Facebook to get rid of or block them. I just logged in and had 2 dozen new requests for things that require me to install a Facebook application to even read.

Muttart Conservatory
Originally uploaded by t6hawk.
Ended up at the Muttart Conservatory for the Edmonton Flickr Meetup. Hirosan and I met up with Chris and a handful of other photographers and had a good time. I had never visited the Conservatory before and found it to be quite interesting and ended up taking over 200 photos in the process. Hirosan took just as many shots if not more. Definitely recommend a visit for anyone who gets a chance.

Sunday in an LRT station is slow. Passing the time taking random photos helps. Hirosan and I were both down there taking shots and this is my end result. Hirosan was on the side where the train pulled in and managed to get it in his version of the shot.

Golden rays of sun filtering through the clouds making a great sunset. This was the view from Highway 56 just north of Drumheller a short distance.

Went on a road trip to Drumheller with Hirosan, Tim and Adam. This photo was simply a fluke shot of Hirosan while he was taking photos of the passing prairie. Highway 56 can be a boring stretch of highway but there are a few good advantages of a remote road. Most notably the sunsets are fantastic.

Windows Vista
Originally uploaded by t6hawk.
Well I didn't expect Parallels Desktop (PC version) to actually run Vista very well on my little PC (2.66ghz Pentium D, 1GB DDR2 ram, on-board grafx). Even with the limited amount of ram it seemed to run fairly smoothly with XP in the background. I don't recommend Vista to people just yet based on my experiences with it at work and trying to provide support to clients.

Feb. 14th, 2007 @ 01:09 pm Greedy Canadian music industry idiots are at it again...
I'm concerned about a new tariff the CPCC is attempting to push through. They are the ones that pushed for all removable media (blank CDs/DVDs) to be taxed. They are now trying to get memory cards taxed too. Not to mention they are trying to heavily tax MP3 players now also also.

What do you guys think? I don't like having to pay twice to listen to music I purchase.

Quote from proposal:
Levy:
(d) for removable electronic memory cards in the Secure Digital, MultiMedia, and Memory Stick formats with more than 256 MB of memory, $2 for each card with no more than 1 Gigabyte (GB) of memory, $5 for each card with more than 1 GB and no more than 4 GB of memory, and $10 for each card with more than 4 GB of memory;
(e) for digital audio recorders (incl iPods), $5 for each recorder with no more than 1 Gigabyte (GB) of memory, $25 for each recorder with more than 1 GB and no more than 10 GB of memory, $50 for each recorder with more than 10 GB and no more than 30 GB of memory, and $75 for each recorder with more than 30 GB of memory.

Autumn by moonlight
Originally uploaded by t6hawk.
Long exposure shot of trees and stars at the Blackfoot Nature Reserve east of Edmonton. Main source of light was a full moon in the eastern sky. Photo facing NNW. My friend Tim and I were out there taking photos. Sadly this is the only one that turned out. We saw a small group of deer as well as a porcupine that was crossing the road and was really hard to see until we were close to it since it blended in with the road.

Big brown spider
Originally uploaded by t6hawk.
This guy is the one I accidentally brought into the house last week after brushing against the cedar tree. Didn't find him until morning since he disappeared and then put him outside when he was found. Good to see he found his tree again and built a web. This little spider at this point is just larger than a quarter. He was munching on a beetle when I first spotted him today. There is a second one of these spiders on the opposite side of the house.
